Peckish Pups ™ started with a little 90s nostalgia, a lifelong love of dogs, and one simple thought… why should the pups miss out? I still remember as a child sitting in the car waiting for Mum to come back from the dairy, hoping she’d return with one of those nostalgic little $1 bags of mixed lollies. There was something special about that feeling – the excitement of getting a little treat, just because. Years later, while watching our own dogs enjoy life alongside us, the idea for Peckish Pups was born. Our adventurous pups are always coming along for the ride. I started thinking about that little kid sitting in the car, waiting for Mum to come back from the dairy, hoping she’d brought home a treat – and then looking at my own pups and wondering if they felt a little bit the same way. Their eyes are so full of devotion. They’re trying so hard to be good, they’re excited simply to be coming along with us, and they love being included in whatever adventure we’re having. It just seemed right that they should have something special of their own to look forward to too. Unfortunately, all we could find at cafes and convenient stores were human foods – sausage rolls, hot dogs, cows milk ‘fluffies’ – that weren’t really what we wanted to be feeding our pups. And that’s where the idea for Peckish Pups began. I wanted to create something made especially for them – little fun-sized packets of delicious treats that could come along wherever we went, just like that little bag of treats from the dairy did when I was a kid.
Peckish Pups was created to make rewarding your best mate easy, fun and convenient. Fun-sized packets of delicious treats, made with natural ingredients and locally made in New Zealand using quality NZ Beef and Lamb, in a size that’s perfect for pockets, bum bags, gloveboxes, café outings, after puppy-preschool snacks, road trips and adventures. So many times, we’ve been caught without treats when we needed them most. Our pup was being well behaved– perfect lead walking, wonderful manners, sitting patiently beside us at a pet-friendly-café – we really wanted to encourage this, and wished we had delicious treats on us. This is where Peckish Pups comes in… You can grab a packet when you order your coffee, pick one up for the road trip, or keep one tucked away for those spontaneous little moments. At the heart of Peckish Pups are the three original pups who inspired our mascots – Duke the Miniature Schnauzer, Koda the German Shepherd, and our beautiful late Boxer, Katy, who will always be a part of the story. Our newest little Boxer, Remi, is now joining us on the adventures too, and we can’t wait to share plenty more of her sassy personality along the way. The vision for Peckish Pups treats has always been satisfied pups, happy memories, good behaviour and a strengthened bond between dogs and their special human. The bright, playful packaging is a little nod to the fun of the 90s, but the heart of Peckish Pups is timeless, dogs are family, adventures are better together, and sometimes the smallest treats create the biggest tail wags.
